Abstract

As urban areas face growing challenges posed by climate change, including extreme weather events, rising temperatures, flooding, and sea-level rise, resilient urban design has emerged as a critical solution for adaptation. Resilient urban design focuses on creating cities that can effectively withstand and recover from these climate-induced stresses while promoting sustainability and ensuring the well-being of urban populations. Key strategies for climate adaptation include the integration of green infrastructure, sustainable architecture, energy-efficient buildings, and adaptive land-use planning. Green roofs, permeable surfaces, urban heat island mitigation, and improved stormwater management systems are some of the design innovations that help cities adapt to environmental challenges. By embedding climate resilience into urban planning and development, cities can enhance their capacity to cope with future climate risks, reduce vulnerabilities, and create more livable, sustainable environments.
